The varsity volleyball team swept the Oscoda Owls in three sets last night, 25-22, 25-17, and 25-21. Their next contest is Wednesday, when the team travels to Shepherd. Go Beavers!

FOR THEIR HEALTH: On Friday, students were given a copy of the MidMichigan Community Health Services 2023-24 School Wellness Center Consent Form to bring home to parents and guardians. Completing and returning this form is required for the school nurse to administer medical aid for your child, so please do so ASAP. SUPPLY LINE: As we kicked off the school year this week, BES and BJSHS got a boost in classroom supplies thanks to Maverick Ford. We appreciate the donation and we know our students will put it to good use. #GoBeavers

BEAVERS ASSEMBLE! A brief pep assembly today at BJSHS provided the opportunity to take care of several important pieces of business, including the always-entertaining yell-down competition; a beautifully-rendered fight song; the introduction of Mrs. Inscho and Mrs. Sanderson as principal and assistant principal, respectively; and the well-deserved recognition of student-athletes Karley Fischer, Kaelyn Fischer and Eva Reader for earning high honors from The College Board National Recognition Program. #GoBeavers #FirstWeekFrenzy

A NEW APPROACH: After much thought, study and deliberation, the Beaverton Schools Board of Education and administration have made significant changes to the BJSHS cell phone policy. It's going to be an adjustment for everyone, but students and parents need to know what the changes are and why they were made. THE HOUSE IS OPEN: Families won't want to miss Wednesday's Beaverton Schools Open House. The event runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at both BES and BJSHS. Aside from meeting teachers, obtaining class schedules/other important info and getting the general lay of the land, students in grades 5-12 will sign their technology usage agreements and receive their Chromebooks. FALL GOLF: Boys and girls in grades 7-12 are invited to join our Fall Golf Club. The eight-week league begins Sept. 5. STILL PLAYING: Our all-conference/all-district/all-region/all-stater Grace Simpson, who graduated in May, is still finding ways to put in work on the softball field. She'll represent our school and our town in next week's Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association All-Star Game. The game is July 19 at 10 a.m. at Davenport University in Caledonia. ESSENTIAL: At Beaverton Schools, not all the heroes necessarily do their work in the classrooms. Three crucial administrative office staffers whose efforts aren't necessarily seen by all do immense work behind the scenes to make sure things run smoothly everywhere on campus, and they continue to work to improve, as evidenced by the recent certifications and accreditations they've earned. Hats off to Payroll/Benefits Coordinator Marybeth Lyons (MSBO School Payroll Specialist certification); Office Manager/Administrative Assistant/Accounts Payable Karen Carpenter (MSBO Facilities Director certification); and Business Manager Heath Kaplan (MSBO Business Manager Academy completion).
