Last mentoring of the year is Today. All 7 th grade WIN Classes and mentors will meet outside Mrs. Walter’s door for an ice Cream social to wrap up the year of mentoring! 2. Volunteer Opportunity: Friday, May 12th at 3:30 p.m. the BAC is organizing a Spring Cleanup. If you are able to volunteer you may want to bring your own pair of gloves since cleanup will consist of spreading mulch, cleaning flower beds, removing trash, and more. 3. Seniors: Now that you have completed the formal senior slide, it is time to add some fun pics. Please email pics you would like to add to the slide show to Mrs. Gerow no later than MAY 17TH as pics need to be reviewed, downloaded and added to slide show. 4. 8 th -11 th Grade GIRLS INTERESTED IN JOINING POM PON next year should attend an interest meeting during their lunch time in the library on Monday, May 15 th . Events Results: The track team hosted Harrison for a dual meet on Wednesday. Setting PR's for the team were: Kamdyn Avila and Justis Martin in the 100, Skyler Jezak in the 200, Brady Lee in the 400 and 3200, Taj Spencer in the 800, Mason Ptak, Jake Wolfe, Tayton Wohlschlegel, and Seth Keeley in the shot put, Colin Smith in the long jump, Ioana Irimia in the 800 and Leiyah Mungin in the shot put! TO BE FAIR...: Mrs. Johnson's students in the Jobs for Michigan's Graduates program hosted a job fair this morning for young folks looking for work this summer (or beyond). Several local employers were on hand to meet the many students who showed up dressed for success with résumés in hand, ready to make good eye contact and a great first impression. Thanks to all our local employers who took part in helping prepare our kids for life outside of school. #Employable #GoBeavers

LIFE SAVERS AND TURNAROUNDERS: It was so busy at BJSHS last week that we're still talking about it. All ninth-graders in Mrs. Sprague's Integrated Science classes spent several days working to become CPR/AED/First Aid certified, a truly noble accomplishment. On Tuesday, Mrs. Wagner's Business students went to Dow Diamond for a tour and a presentation on the business of baseball; they also took in a game. And on Thursday, the Clare-Gladwin Area School Board Association's annual TurnAround Achievement Awards luncheon took place and BJSHS seniors Austin Eastman and Leiyah Mungin were among the very deserving honorees representing Beaverton. Mobile Dental Program is coming to Beaverton Schools on May 16 th , 17 th , & 18 th . Dental Bus permission slips are available in the Jr/Sr High school office. Permission slips need to be turned in the office by 5/16/2023. 2. Any 16 to 18 year old girl interested in earning some scholarship money a fun way? Come to the office to pick up some information in regards to the Miss Beaverton Pageant. Pageant will be held June 24 th . 3. BPA is selling cookies at lunch on Wednesday and Friday. $1.00 per package. 4. JMG is hosting their annual job fair May 10 th from 11:00-12:00 in the library. All spring sporting events are CANCELED today due to cold conditions. Varsity softball will now host Shepherd this Wednesday, May 3rd at 4:00. Varsity baseball will host Shepherd on Saturday, May 20th at 10:00 a.m. JV baseball and softball will travel to Shepherd on Friday, May 26th at 4:00. Middle school track meet make up date is still being worked on. Practice plans for today have been emailed to parents and student-athletes. GO RED!

DOSE OF REALITY: Learning essential life skills was the order of the day at the annual Reality Store event this morning. This collaboration between Beaverton Schools, Clare-Gladwin CTE and Mid Michigan College presents students with scenarios set in the not-so-distant future like: You've got a husband and three kids. What kind of job do you need to help support your family and live the life you want? Students are given a strict budget and need to account for life's necessities like housing, transportation, food, insurance, entertainment and more. Their mission is to make it all fit within their budgets. The lessons are numerous and valuable - everything from career planning to money management. #LifeSkills #GoBeavers

MOSTLY EXCELLENT, WITH A CHANCE OF LEARNING: When it comes to Michigan weather, we all feel like experts. But this guy actually is. WNEM Chief Meteorologist Chris Easlick stormed the BJSHS halls today, stopping by to chat with students about the science behind weather forecasting and what it takes to have a career in meteorology. #CoolWeather #GoBeavers

THE TRACK IS BACK, JACK! - Our middle schoolers christened it with a two-team meet last week, but last night marked the first time in several years that our high school track and field squad was able to host a meet, welcoming Gladwin and Clare to our sparkling new facilities. Seeing the red and white running, jumping and throwing at a home meet once again was a long time coming, but it was a glorious sight to behold. #Grateful #GoBeavers
