Just a friendly reminder: students must wear masks on the busses and in school. We are noticing a high number of students that are forgetting their masks. We have extras at school to use for when students misplace, ruin, drop, etc. However, we do ask that they bring one with them daily for entering the bus or entering the school. Thank you very much for your cooperation!

Meet this weeks Highlight Teacher for Beaverton Elementary: Will Gaudard!  Mr. Gaudard has been teaching for 7 years now; beginning in the desert area of Farmington, New Mexico with a class of third graders.  As a position opened up in Beaverton Schools, Mr. Gaudard jumped at the opportunity to work in the Mid-Michigan area.  This has allowed for him to be close to family and home; a place he feels he belongs.  Will was inspired to become a teacher due to his 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Weslowski, who was a positive influence and role model for him growing up.  As a teacher, his favorite subject to teach is reading and he hopes to continue inspiring students every chance he has.  When asking a few of his students what they like most about Mr. Gaudard, Taryn and Andrew stated that they love his ability to tease with them and be funny - he makes learning enjoyable.  They also noted that when they have questions in class he can explain the answers really well in a way that they can easily understand.  Will’s ability to make meaningful connections with his students and deepen their abilities to learn has made him an outstanding addition to our staff here at Beaverton Elementary!

It was very exciting to have two of our own Gladwin County former students return to complete parts of their collegiate coursework. Dayna Fennell and Kylie Keeley are currently finishing their Dental Hygiene programs through Kellogg Community College. To complete one of their final projects they needed to provide community education and our kindergarten students loved every minute of it!

Meet our Highlight Staff of the Week: Mrs. Bruner, 3rd Grade Teacher at Beaverton Elementary! Mrs. Bruner was inspired to become a teacher by her parents and her third grade teacher, Mr. Johnson. Through her 18 years of teaching she has experienced taking lead roles in public school, charter schools, and after school programs. Both, her parents and Mr. Johnson, continually provided her extra help in the area of reading. As a result, a love of reading developed and she now carries that passion into her classroom continuing Read-Alouds daily with her students. Her favorite book series as a young learner was The Boxcar Children. Her students often refer to Mrs. Bruner as "a nice and caring teacher that makes learning fun - especially when she talks in her British accent when introducing lessons!" Beaverton Elementary is fortunate to have Mrs. Bruner in our classrooms inspiring our students to dive into their books and strengthen their path to lifelong literacy.

94.5 The Moose: Who's Your Favorite Teacher. One of our own favorites, Mrs. Werth, has been nominated! Let's get these votes coming in!! Reason for Nomination As a Kindergarten teacher, Mrs Werth, has the patience of a saint!! She is a teacher who’s heart and dedication to the students goes beyond the classroom. You can find her at special events to celebrate her students in their extra curricular activities; showing up at dance recitals and games (when COVID regulations doesn't restrict this). She makes learning fun for the kids and is amazing at building on the strengths of her students while developing their independence. She knows the importance of getting families involved in growing well-rounded students and understanding the mental health needs in challenging times.

Meet our Highlight Staff of the Week: Mrs. Rise, 5th Grade Teacher at Beaverton Elementary! Ever since she was a young 4th grade student she knew that she wanted to be a math teacher and has successfully taught for 25 wonderful years. Her students have stated that: "She is always willing and ready to help anyone and she always has a positive attitude. She is cheerful, kind to others, and lets them watch movies at lunch. " A favorite memory of one of her students was "at the end of third grade she gave us all a hug and said good luck". It is without a doubt that Mrs. Rise is truly one of many blessings to our district. She is a great teacher! A special thank you to Mrs. Rise for her continual dedication to our district, her love for teaching, and the relationships that she fosters with her students! (Interviewed by Jace, Brooke, Liam, Jaley, and Ace)
