Good morning, Beaverton. Our schools are committed to the safety and education of all of our students and staff. We also want to clearly communicate with parents about safety procedures and precautions. This morning's lockdown training in both buildings was a drill. This was a collaborative effort between Beaverton Schools, the Beaverton, Gladwin and Clare City Police Departments and the Clare County Sheriff's Department. Please discuss this situation with your children and let us know if any follow-up is needed. Thank you for your understanding and please feel free to call either building if you have any questions or concerns. Sincerely, Joseph Passalacqua, Superintendent

TEACHING THE TEACHERS: Students had the day off, but teachers were hard at it Friday working on professional development, and the theme was "data." Essential to student growth is the ability to recognize what works in the classroom, what doesn't, and how to measure improvement. Data experts from Clare-Gladwin RESD were on hand to help guide the discussion, all in the efforts to make sure that when our kids walk across that stage at graduation, they're prepared for college, a career or both. #PuttingInTheWork #GoBeavers

CRUCIAL LESSONS: Beaverton Schools hosted a series of presentations today from Trooper Shane Noble of the Michigan State Police's West Branch Post. He shared important information with kids in grades five through 12 about the real-life consequences of vaping, poor decisions with cell phones and cyberbullying. We appreciate Trooper Noble spending his day with our students and sharing his experiences. #GoBeavers
