Today was hat day. One of our very own retired teachers wanted to participate. Mr. Rise has been coming back to help with the substitute shortage. To teach for many years and come back, shows how much passion he has for the students. We asked Mr. Rise what his "why" was for teaching today, and loved his response... "I have always believed it is important to connect with the kids in many ways, not just academically. I want them to see that there are sides of teachers that want to have fun just like kids do!" -Mr. Rise

Yesterday some of our students participated in an assembly presented by Anthony Ianni. Anthony is one of the most sought-after anti-bullying motivational speakers in the region. He was diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder at the age of four. Doctors and others had told him that he would never graduate, never go to college, and would face a lot of challenges in life. The only thing they were right about were the challenges, but he rose above those. Among so many other amazing things, Anthony worked hard and became the first known athlete with autism to play Big 10 basketball for Michigan State University. He now speaks to children around the country to help them understand they can do anything, if they work hard. He teaches them about family and tells them to be the change the want to see.
